Tankless Water Heater Repair and Installation in Dallas Fort-Worth, TX

Get a clear diagnosis, expert sewer repairs, and an honest price from a licensed plumber. Good and Honest Plumbing serves Nevada, TX and the surrounding area — no surprise charges, no corners cut.

When Your Tankless System Stops Cooperating

Tankless water heaters are efficient and built to last, but they’re not bulletproof. Mineral buildup, ignition failures, flow sensor problems, and error codes can all knock an on-demand system out of commission. When that happens, you want a plumber who knows these units, not someone guessing their way through a diagnostic.

Good and Honest Plumbing works on all major tankless brands and both gas and electric systems. Before we recommend any repair, we run a proper diagnostic so you know exactly what’s wrong and what it costs to fix. No surprises at the end of the job.

Signs Your Tankless Heater Needs a Service Call

Some problems make themselves obvious. Others build quietly until the unit fails at the worst possible time. These are the most common issues homeowners in the Nevada, TX area call us about:

  • No hot water at all: Usually points to ignition failure, a gas supply issue, or a tripped error code the unit can’t reset on its own.
  • Inconsistent water temperature: A shower that swings hot and cold without warning often traces back to a dirty flow sensor or scale on the heat exchanger.
  • Error codes on the display: These codes mean something specific. We know how to read them across all major brands and trace them to the actual problem.
  • Low pressure on the hot side only: Mineral deposits inside the heat exchanger restrict flow over time. If cold pressure is fine but hot pressure is weak, that’s usually why.
  • Odd sounds during operation: Popping, rumbling, or persistent clicking while the unit runs can mean scale buildup or a mechanical issue that’s getting worse.

Catching any of these early almost always means a simpler, less expensive fix. If something feels off with your system, it’s worth a call.

What Our Tankless Water Heater Repair Service Covers

Every repair job is a little different. What we find depends on the brand, the fuel type, how old the unit is, and whether it’s been serviced before. Our licensed master plumbers work on both residential and commercial tankless systems and handle the full scope of issues these units run into.

The flat fee for sending a plumber to you within normal hours (7am-5pm) is $49. Outside of normal hours, the fee increases to $200. Additional cost depends on the method deemed necessary to fix the issue.

Descaling and System Flushing

Hard water is a real problem in North Texas. Calcium and magnesium deposits build up inside the heat exchanger over time until the unit overheats or shuts itself down. We flush the system completely, clear the scale, and get flow and heat output back to where they should be.

Igniter and Flame Sensor Replacement

Gas tankless heaters use an igniter to light the burner and a flame sensor to confirm combustion. If either fails, the unit won’t fire, regardless of what the gas pressure looks like. We test both components and replace whatever isn’t doing its job.

Flow Sensor and Valve Repair

The flow sensor tells your unit that water is moving and the burner should kick on. A sensor that’s dirty, out of calibration, or dead means no hot water on demand. We clean, recalibrate, or replace it based on what we find.

Error Code Diagnostics

Rinnai, Navien, Noritz, Rheem, Bosch — each brand runs its own error code system. We have the tools and brand-specific knowledge to read what your unit is telling you and trace it back to the source.

Gas Line and Pressure Checks

Insufficient gas pressure is one of the most often-missed causes of tankless heater problems. If the unit isn’t getting the gas volume it needs, it won’t heat properly, and the fix may have nothing to do with the heater itself. We check supply pressure and connections as part of every gas unit diagnostic.

Honest Pricing, No Hidden Costs

The most common complaint we hear from new customers is finding out the real price after the job. We work differently. We tell you what something costs before we start, and that number doesn’t change when we hand you the bill.

We won’t push you toward a replacement if a repair makes sense. If you’re genuinely weighing repair against buying new, we’ll give you honest numbers for both and let you decide. Preston Giardina and Caleb Thurman, the co-owners, are personally involved in every job Good and Honest Plumbing takes on.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a tankless water heater repair typically take?
Most repairs wrap up in a single visit, usually between one and three hours. If a part needs to be ordered or the issue is more involved, it may take longer. We’ll give you a realistic estimate after the diagnostic, not a guess upfront.
Yes. We service Rinnai, Navien, Noritz, Rheem, Bosch, EcoSmart, and others. Our plumbers know the diagnostic systems and the common failure points for each brand, so we’re not figuring it out as we go.
Not necessarily. Some codes point to minor issues like sediment or a reset the unit couldn’t complete. A diagnostic is the only reliable way to tell the difference, and we run one before recommending anything.
It comes down to the unit’s age and what the repair costs. A common rule of thumb: if the repair runs more than half the price of a new unit and the heater is over 10 years old, replacement usually makes more financial sense.
Yes. We take emergency calls throughout our service area. If you’ve lost hot water entirely or the unit is leaking, call us directly and we’ll get someone out as fast as we can.
